July 2, 2025: <\/strong>On Wednesday, June 18th, BrightStart Caledon’s staff, Board, and community partners gathered at the Humber River Centre, 28 Ann St., Bolton, for the Annual Members\u2019 Meeting of BrightStart Caledon Family Centre. Although Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones was unable to attend, her Constituent Assistant, Karol Jakubczak, joined the event on her behalf to share the news of a $52,800 Ontario government grant, funded through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).<\/p>\n

\u201cOur government is proud to invest in the development of this new intake and referral system, so Bright Start Caledon can continue to play a vital role in strengthening families and supporting the well-being of children in our community,\u201d Jakubczak shared on behalf of MPP Jones \u201cThis project will make it easier for families to access the services they need, when they need them, helping ensure every child in Caledon has the opportunity to thrive.\u201d

This generous funding will allow BrightStart Caledon to develop and pilot an Intake, Information, and Referral Process will serve as a centralized hub for families with children aged 0 – 8 years seeking assistance, information, and\/or connections within the Caledon community.<\/p>\n

This is an important action coming out of our strategic plan and tied to our longer-term vision. We have engaged a consultant who is guiding us through a thoughtful and informed process \u2014 from designing the intake system and developing essential tools and forms, to identifying a user-friendly database and providing staff training.\u201d said Teresa Colasanti, BrightStart Caledon Executive Director, noting \u201cWe are very grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for this funding. The work it supports will culminate in the creation of a centralized hub for families in Caledon, making it easier to access services and resources that are tailored to their unique needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
