Notice: ALTON & CHELTENHAM CANCELLED TODAY!
When school buses are cancelled due to inclement weather, BrightStart Caledon’s Mobile Village Sites (Alton & Cheltenham) are cancelled. All other programs and sites are unaffected. Sorry for the inconvenience.
As we move through December, you’ll notice that our 2025 Warm Hearts Fundraising Campaign is sharing its message in a storybook style. BrightStart Caledon exists to support families and children, and we’ve chosen this warm, imaginative voice to help show why your support throughout this campaign matters.
A storybook lens reminds us that we are talking about helping families—parents, caregivers, and young children. It highlights how little moments make big differences, how even small communities face big challenges, and how every donation can help write a brighter, kinder next chapter for families in Caledon.
Every story has a beginning… a « once upon a time. » Our story begins with a community that cares.
Nearly four decades ago, BrightStart Caledon Family Centre’s* story began with a simple but powerful call from our community; a call to come together for our community’s parents, caregivers and young children. Caledon needed a safe place where parents felt supported, little ones could learn and belong, and families could grow stronger through connection and care.
We answered that call. In November of 1987, our first mobile unit arrived at the Alton Legion to offer free Family Time programming and toy-lending services. Word spread quickly. By 1988, our Bolton site opened, and soon we went from delivering 17 to 35 hours of programming each week across eight rural communities. Today, our story continues. What began as a single morning of drop in programming has grown into a daily, trusted presence in the lives of thousands.
BrightStart Caledon Family Centre still serves both suburban and rural communities across Caledon. We have now grown to offer our free programs and services from 3 permanent centres (Bolton, Caledon East and Southfields Village), in addition to our mobile village sites. We continue to be a place where children connect, learn and grow, parents and caregivers find guidance in their roles, and families find a sense of belonging in their community.
We hope you’ll consider supporting BrightStart Caledon Family Centre. As our community grows, your December donation can help us bridge critical funding gaps, ensuring the next chapter in our story of care, connection, and community can continue for every family who needs us.
